Operations Manager

Operations Manager A major high-volume distribution company of consumer products is seeking a distribution professional to join its Salt Lake City distribution center as Operations Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversees efficient operations of warehouse and transportation functions, including receiving, stocking, picking, packing, delivery, equipment maintenance, security, and safety. 2. Develops and implements and monitors standard operating procedure for warehousing and transportation. 3. Develops, implements, and monitors warehouse and transportation employee productivity/quality action plans in accordance with the standards developed by the operations group. 4. Determines warehousing and transportation personnel and equipment requirements by evaluating warehouse activities, projected volumes, and product mixes in accordance with productivity standards. 5. Ensures company, OSHA, and DOT standards for warehousing, distribution, and employee safety are met. 6. Implements policies and procedures for warehouse and transportation security. 7. Ensures effective marshaling and integrity of DC inventory. Implements procedures for handling customer returns, vendor returns, and obsolete inventory. Performs periodic physical inventory counts. Performs cycle counts and investigates discrepancies to keep perpetual inventory system accurate. 8. With the operations group, identifies requirements and implements training programs for the DC warehouse and transportation employees. 9. Responsible for selection and hiring of direct reports and associates for warehouse and transportation positions. Directs their activities, evaluates their performance, and approves their merit pay increases. 10. Supports Risk Management in investigating and monitoring accidents to identify cause and take corrective actions. Works with Human Resources group to develop division training and incentive programs to improve transportation and safety. 11. Responsible for annual planning process in the Operations area.
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTS •Must have minimum of 7 years of operations management experience including a background in foods distribution •Extensive warehouse systems background including RF scanning •Computer literacy and EXCEL spreadsheet capability •Comprehensive OSHA and DOT knowledge •Strong leadership, communications and organizational abilities •Exceptional people management skills •BA/BS degree preferred.
