JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
Set-up and weld parts using the SMAW, GMAW, GRAW, SAW processes to support production requirements.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Primary
1.Operations to be performed: Pre-heat, fabricate, overlay, repair, and hardface using one or a combination of welding processed in accordance with codes and specifications, engineering drawings, verbal and/or written instructions, and/or manufacturing process sheets. Weld a variety of material including, but not limited to, carbon steel, low alloy steel, corrosion resistant steel, and surfacing alloys. Welding to be done in either the manual, semi-automatic or automatic mode.
2.Set-up operations will include mounting parts in appropriate fixtures, positioners, tables, etc.; mounting fixtures on positioners.
3.Other operations will include self-inspection and cleaning slag, weld spatter, and other deleterious materials from weldments. Perform in-process and end self-inspection to assure conformance to drawings and other applicable requirements.

4.Support Production - Perform other tasks as assigned within the manufacturing area. These tasks may include but are not limited to, grinding, or performing any activity for which you are qualified.
5.Problem Identification - Identify problems affecting the successful completion of your assignment, notify appropriate personnel and participate in problem solving as required.
6.Safety - Demonstrate and follow safe work habits daily including proper use of protective equipment, appropriate use of parts handling equipment and methods, correct disposal of waste and notification of hazardous conditions to Safety Committee or Supervisor.

7.Documentation - Fully and accurately complete all required departmental documentation
8.Maintenance - Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment used. Assist maintenance in identification of machine problems and correction as requested.
9.Housekeeping - Keep machine(s) clean, immediate area swept. Store tooling in cabinets or return to Tool Crib when not in use. Keep workbench and cabinets clean and organized.
Qualifications
1.Ability to read/work to engineering drawings, welding procedures, verbal and or written instructions.
2.Ability to perform shop mathematical calculations.
5.Must have at least 7 years experience welding using the SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and SAW processes in the manual, semi-automatic and automatic modes.
6Must provide own tools as specified by supervisor.
For any position that requires a degree or equivalent work experience, equivalent work experience is defined as follows:
2 years of directly related and progressive work will be equal to one year of college.
