Sterile Processing Technician Full Time Midnight -- Christiana

Christiana Care Health System, with locations in Wilmington and Newark, DE, is one of the largest health care providers in the Mid-Atlantic Region, serving all of Delaware and portions of seven counties bordering the state in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey.The Sterile Processing Departments at Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals are modern facilities with state-of-the-art equipment. The Departments provide sterilization support for over 16,000 surgical procedures each year.At our Christiana Hospital, our Sterile Processing Team consists of 40 Technicians covering surgical procedures around-the-clock. Our Wilmington Hospital location consists of 16 Technicians on day and evening shifts.We consider employment for Sterile Processing Techs who are currently certified through IAHCSMM or CBSPD as preferred candidates. We do however, offer a 5 week (1 day per week) on-site training course to Christiana Care Sterile Processing Techs who are working towards certification.The primary duties of a Certified Sterile Processing Technician are to clean, inspect and decontaminate instruments for the Operating Room and other departments at Christiana and Wilmington locations. Also to assemble instrument trays and perform other duties to facilitate department operations.In order to qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent as well as good communication and organizational skills. Certification through IAHCSMM (http://IAHCSMM.com) or CBSPD (http://www.sterileprocessing.org/cbspd.htm) is preferred and required after 3 years of employment. Surgical Technicians are also preferred candidates. Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs. and cannot be color blind due to color coded paperwork and processes.New openings do occur regularly.
