Scientist 1 - Tampa, FL

Postion Summary: Candidate will perform soil and groundwater sampling and collect field measurements generally associated with groundwater assessment and remedial investigations for the preparation of scientific documents. Duties will include interpretation and summation of the field data and preparation of technical documents related to groundwater and soil assessment and limited engineering design and remedial system installation oversight. The technical position will not only include reporting, but also oversight of subcontractors during petroleum system upgrades and performance of operation, and maintenance proceedures primarily for petroleum remediation systems thoughout Southwest and Central Florida.
Requirements:Position requires 0 to 3-years experience, BS in Engineering, Geology or other related field. Experience in the collection of investigative soil and groundwater data in the field is preferred. Knowledge of soil and groundwater cleanup criteria in accordance with the Regulations of the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection is also preferred. Must have good oral and writing communications skills, and ability to work in team environment. Self-motivation and ability to work with moderate supervision will be required. Forty-hour HAZWOPPER course certification will also be required.
Job Conditions/Environment:Requires periodic field work outdoors in Florida climate. Must be in good physical condition with an ability to lift greater than 40 pounds. A good driving record and ability to travel to project locations will be required. Occasional overnight travel will be required.
