Research Associate II/III

Purpose: Our client, located in the East Bay, has an immediate opening for a Research Associate II/III.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform routine laboratory procedures including in vivo work, cell based
assays, and other assays if needed
* Define and bring in house new cancer pharmacology models.
Development of ectopic and orthotopic implantation of several tumor cell
lines in mice and in vivo angiogenesis and metastases models
* Draft experimental protocols, and select, develop, and optimize novel in
vivo techniques
* Perform in vivo and in vitro experiments with best laboratory practices
according to defined protocols that contribute to current project
strategies
* Make detailed observations and analyze, compile and summarize data,
prepare graphs and reports participate in the interpretation of results
and present conclusions.
* Set up, adjust and operate laboratory equipment and instruments
* Train junior laboratory personnel in techniques and equipment operation
* Represent the Oncology group in project teams by providing input on
studies conducted
* Write research reports and provide oral presentations of research
findings at departmental meetings

Requirements:
* BS/BA with 5+ years experience or MA. or MS degree with 3+ years experience
* Extensive knowledge of in vivo techniques, hands-on experience in dosing by various routes, blood collection, anesthesia, euthanasia and surgery in mice and rats. Some experience with in vitro cell culture. Preparing formulations for in vivo studies.
* Familiarity with standard statistical methods in biology
* Ability to use basic computer programs (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, SigmaStat)
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
