Benefit Manager - Human Resources
I. POSITION SUMMARY: This position will support the Director of Benefits with the long-term design of benefit plans and strategy. In addition this position will be responsible for the daily operation and coordination of employee benefits plans, activities and services. These plans include: Medical, Dental, FSA, Disability, Life Insurance, 401(k), Pension, Stock Discount and various ancillary plans. This position also plans, implements, communicates, and maintains the various aspects of employee benefit plans and programs ensuring that all activities with each benefit plan is administered effectively and in compliance with various laws and regulations.
II. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
1.Assist Director of Benefits with development of plan design and benefit strategy consistent with Company strategy, competitive benchmark data and legal compliance.
2.Develop appropriate communication strategy and communication materials to support associate understanding and empowerment. This will include development of all communication materials concerning Ann Taylor benefits including marketing of existing or new benefit plans, Summary Plan Descriptions, Summary of Material Modifications and any ongoing communication needs throughout the year as Plan or legislative changes occur.
3.Serve as the primary contact with benefits vendors for Ann Taylor associates. Evaluates services and products provided by benefits vendors, identify inefficiencies and make recommendation for product and service improvement.

5.Advises and educates other members of the department on various topics including: new benefit programs, regulatory changes and policies and procedures.
6.Assist with the development of Vendor Performance Standards and periodic review to ensure standards are met.
7.Conducts regular audits to ensure that all benefit plans are in compliance with ERISA, HIPAA and state and federal regulations.
8.Suggests, develops, and implements new or improved customer service initiatives. Customers include our associates and HR. Delivers best-in-practice techniques to Benefits & HR throughout the company. Initiatives may include communications (brochures, intranet content, advisories, etc.), training programs (for employees, HR, or Benefits employees), or any other initiative that will improve service to our customers. Meets regularly with customers in various locations to discover and address issues.
9.Manages the 401(k), Pension and Stock Discount Plans at Ann Taylor. Manages and audits the ongoing inflow and outflow of data with the 401k provider and Pension actuary. Participates in the Administrative Committee. Keeps up-to-date with legislative and plan changes. Researches and corrects any issues. Oversees and reviews Pension calculations.
10.Serve as benefits expert to HRIS. Oversees audits of the information from the system and reports run from the system for accuracy and utilization statistics.
11.Oversee reconciliation of monthly bills from benefits vendors and assist with budget tracking and reprojection.
12.Assists with various departmental and interdepartmental projects.
III. ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Manages Benefits Analyst(s)
2.Provides ad hoc reporting and serves on various committees as needed.
IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Certification in benefits preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 7 years experience in a Human Resources function required. Must have experience in administering benefits programs and working with an HRIS. Supervisory experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced knowledge of various benefits programs including medical/dental, 401(k), Pension, Stock Discount Plans, Flexible Spending Accounts, Life Insurance, and disability programs required. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, project management, and leadership skills. Must have strong computer skills including Word, EXCEL, and PowerPoint, and the ability to learn HRIS system. High sense of integrity and ability to work with confidential data also required.Job Requirements
