Live In Butler / Valet

Butler/Valet works in coordination and cooperation with the other staff to facilitate the highest level of service and standards under the direction of the Estate Manager. One full time butler / chef and one full time butler / valet are employed. They alternate to provide coverage 7 days per week and double coverage when M/M entertain.

The butler / valet is a salaried management position requiring a highly organized self starter who can anticipate needs and assume the responsibility for hospitality. He is additionally responsible for insuring Mr. & Mrs. needs are met as outlined in the job description.

A clear understanding of high standards and the ability to serve and direct temporary servers is required.

An essential function of the job is the ability to stand and attend to Mr. and Mrs. needs often for extended periods of time not only throughout the day but over the course of many days without regular interruption or days off.

Travel between three locations, including assisting with the transport of all luggage for the family when necessary, for approximately 6 months in Florida, and the remainder of the year between two locations in the Northeast. Position requires flexibility but generally has two days off per week-consecutive when possible.

VALET TO MR.

Attend to him throughout the day, at time without interruption, serving lunch, snacks, drinks, etc.

Full responsibility for his wardrobe including washing, ironing, repairs and sending items to the cleaners in the absence of the laundress. Make recommendations for replacements and/or additions

Shop for/order and pick up, if necessary, clothing and other accessories

Maintaining constant high standard of closet organization and purchase/replace items such as hangers, drawer organizers, shoe trees etc. as needed

Full responsibility for his toiletries including purchasing, maintaining back up inventory as well as always having his travel bag stocked

Packing and unpacking luggage for travel; transport luggage before, during and after frequent travel by Mr.

Maintaining back up items such as hair dryers, toothbrushes, etc.

Maintaining the order of his bathroom including cleaning and organizing his drawers and toiletries, changing razor blades 3 x’s weekly, toothbrush heads weekly, etc.

Deliver faxes, telephone messages, etc.

Daily set up chaise/chair at pool with telephone, music, towels, tissues, sun tan lotion, etc.

Standing throughout the day and attending to Mr.’s general needs

HOSPITALITY

Greet guests at their cars and attend to their needs

Assist guests with transport of their luggage and/or other goods

Serve as back up to answer the telephone and gate before the 3rd ring

Escort Mr./Mrs. as well as guests to/from their cars; carry packages

Assist in the coordination/execution of social functions

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Maintain silver, china, crystal etc. inventories and facilitate replacements as needed

Maintain, clean and stock bars including den, master bedroom suite (daily), cabana, Mr.’s office and guest wing

Occasional chauffeuring duties

Household errands as requested by Mr./Mrs., including purchasing, transporting and/or returning items to and from the house

Maintain the wine coolers and inventories, make recommendations for replenishing

Attend to family dog; facilitate health care, grooming and daily care

Daily turn down and lock up

Perform other duties to facilitate the highest level of service and maintain the highest standards as directed by the family and/or Estate Manager
REQUIREMENTS
Minimuim 2 years experience in a fine private home in a similiar position.

Wine knowledge

Fine dining food service experience

Valid passport

Ability to work in the US

Strong command of the english language

Must be able to travel with the family as needed
