General Summary of Position Responsibility:This position is created to assist the Principal Investigator to accomplish the scientific missions of the extramural funded research projects conducted both domestically and internationally. Responsibilities include collaboration with researchers in methodological development, study design, data analysis, and preparation of tables, graphs, and reports for grant proposals and publications in large and complex genetic studies.Essential Job Functions:

Write analytical programs and manipulate data using statistical software programs. Transform data between different formats and prepare working datasets for advanced statistical analysis.
Work with a research team on developing statistical methods, which can be applied to address genetic and epidemiologic questions.
Assist collaborative statisticians on implementing advanced statistical methods to computer algorithms for genetic and genomic data analysis.
Interact with an interdisciplinary research team and to apply the state of the art statistical methods to analyze data generated from multiple sources: questionnaires, clinical records, and laboratory measurements.
Create professional quality tables, graphs, and reports for the development of grant proposals and publications in a timely fashion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

A minimum of a Master's Degree is required, preferably in biostatistics, statistics or related fields.
One to three years of work experience in a biomedical research setting and a demonstration of the abilities and skills necessary to meet the responsibilities described above.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively and independently in a multi-disciplinary environment, and as part of a team. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Strong analytical and statistical programming skills in SAS, Splus/R, Excel, and graphic software. Experience in programming languages such as C/C++ and Perl is highly desirable.
