Two positions available in Lincoln, Nebraska.Coordinates and manages analytical development and chemistry-related activities for new OTC products under direction of the Associate Director of Analytical Development or an Analytical Development Team Leader. Completes projects against timelines and budgets while maintaining high quality standards. Participates in Project Teams. Works with contract research laboratories as required and performs or coordinates due diligence and technical capability audits. Assists with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) audits as required. Contributes to the preparation of the analytical portions of regulatory submissions. Has close interaction with other NCH functions and departments including: all other departments in OTC R&D; Product Supply, especially Quality.Primary responsibilities of this position include performing or managing chemistry-related testing of R&D batches, i.e. prototypes, experimental formulas, stability, clinical supply and validation batches, and of new raw materials; conducting original experiments, investigations, and special testing as needed in order to solve problems, resolve regulatory issues, or characterize drug substances or products. Close, independent interaction with third-party suppliers, laboratories, and contractors is required. Maintains GMP compliant, state-of-the-art analytical laboratories.Qualifications
Sr. Analytical Scientist Qualifications:
Broad knowledge of chemical sciences, especially analytical techniques and instruments; good decision making skills; creativity and initiative; basic ability to manage projects; ability to work in a team environment; strong written and verbal communication; flexible to change and shifting priorities; ability to manage multiple priorities, and high professional and ethical standards.Candidate must demonstrate experience in training other scientists on complex analytical procedures and show strong familiarity with pharmaceutical method transfer practices. Frequent travel, including travel to other Novartis sites internationally is expected.Sr. Analytical Scientist II Education/Experience:
Preference for PhD in Chemistry with 2+ years experience or MS with 6+ years experience in pharmaceutical industry and prior experience in managing projects and leading teams. Experience in directly managing other professional staff preferred.Sr. Analytical Scientist I Education/Experience:
Preference for MS in Chemistry with 2+ years experience or BS with 4+ years experience in pharmaceutical industry and prior experience in designing and conducting complex laboratory experiments. Experience with laboratory computer systems and data management preferred.
