Senior Psychometrician

Compensation: There is assistance available for relocation. Qualifications The qualified candidate will have completed a Doctorate in psychometrics or educational measurement – a master’s degree plus a minimum of three years relevant experience may be considered. The successful candidate will be involved in the design and direction of various test products and may assist on large-scale state contracts. Work of this kind requires specific knowledge of classical test theory, item-response theory (IRT), and at least one of the following areas: scaling, equating, differential item functioning. The ability to communicate effectively with staff on psychometric and test development issues is also essential to the position. Evidence of independent research experience is preferred and the successful candidate is expected to be able to contribute to research relative to the theory and/or practice of statistical and psychometric procedures applicable to educational assessment.

Accountabilities
Completes in a timely and accurate fashion, assigned psychometric activities required for various test products, large-scale contract programs, research and development, and operational studies and projects. This includes performing the psychometric, administrative, and supervisory duties necessary for the scoring, analysis and reporting activities of assigned examination programs, or projects. All assignments are carried out under the supervision of a Senior/Principal Research Scientist. Specific accountabilities include:

· Plan and select appropriate statistical and psychometric techniques and methodologies involved in the accurate scoring, analysis and reporting of examination program activities including:

· Coordinate efforts of staff in Research and other departments as needed for the timely and accurate completion of program related activities.

· Review key validation data and provide recommendations for key changes or item deletions to Test Development.

· Access or revise computer software as needed to complete above mentioned analyses.

· Collaborate with staff in Measurement Research and other departments in the investigation of improved processing, analysis, scoring, and reporting techniques.

· Collaborate with staff in Measurement Research and other departments in the completion of activities associated with assigned research projects.

· Serve on project teams, task forces, committees, or other ad hoc groups as assigned.


Requirements

Travel Percentage: 0%Position Entry Requirements: The Psychometrician position requires a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in psychometrics or educational measurement. A sound conceptual understanding of educational measurement is essential. A Master's degree with formal training in psychometrics or educational measurement is acceptable with a minimum of three years work experience in a related field. Qualified candidates must also demonstrate strong communication skills and be able to function independently and collaboratively on research projects with other scientists. In addition, qualified candidates should possess the following traits:
· Working knowledge of statistical software (SAS and/or SPSS). · Working knowledge of standard personal computer software (Excel, Access, Word).
· Facility for effective administration, coordination and interaction with others, including staff members and external staff managing state contracts.
