Job Description

We are seeking an individual to carry out pre-clinical imaging studies with focus on optimizing imaging parameters for biological applications such as antibody targeting and long-circulating contrast agents. The successful candidate will collaborate on-site at a premier medical center and work with a multi-disciplinary and multi-site team in Philips Research. Key areas of responsibility will be the following: - Carry out experiments based on the use of micro CT and micro PET for the image reconstruction, image processing and analysis for co-registration, segmentation, visualization etc. for small animal imaging studies. - Work in a multi-disciplinary environment with biological, technical and medical specialists. - Contribute to the scientific progression and experimental design of small animal imaging studies for biological endpoints using micro CT and micro PET, possibly also MR. - Contribute to grant writing and publish scientific results.

Preferred Profile

We require the following credentials for this position: - PhD in biomedical engineering, physics or electrical engineering. - Several years of experience in industrial or academic research, preferably in the medical domain. - Demonstrated background in small animal imaging with micro CT and micro PET is required. Specific knowledge of other imaging modalities especially MR is highly desirable. - Knowledge of the medical domain, specifically of medical imaging methods and systems and related biochemistry desirable.The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to integrate into a multidisciplinary and multi-site team. Initially, the candidate will collaborate with the pre-clinical staff and Philips Research to focus ideas, derive agreed upon timelines, and evaluate resulting imaging studies. Strong communication skills in written and verbal English and willingness to spend several months of training during an initial training phase are also required.
