The Center for Advanced Research (CAR) at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) seeks an outstanding user interface designer for a new project that will design and field test a next-generation audit software system. CAR's mission is to create competitive advantage by applying advanced technology and thinking to important practice problems. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, CAR employs researchers and developers with a variety of exceptional technical backgrounds and experience.The next-generation audit software system project will use an iterative development approach based on evolving specifications articulated by a team of subject matter experts. The software developers will work with these experts to understand their needs, design modules that satisfy those needs, program and test the system, get feedback from auditors, and iterate the design and development steps until highly effective solutions have been created, tested and deployed for evaluation by PwC audit teams.Successful candidates will have notable and relevant user interface design and programming experience, be up-to-date in their knowledge and have strong academic preparation and/or a strong track record of programming in the research and development environment.Successful candidates will also have:
strong interpersonal skills
demonstrated ability to work well in teams made up of extraordinary technical staff, project managers, architects, and external consultants
ability to work independently and have excellent problem-solving skillsThe full development cycle for the next-generation audit software system is expected to take 2-3 years. At the end of this development cycle, successful candidates will have a track record that will lead to opportunities to transfer to other software positions within PwC, or to become part of the development staff or lifecycle support staff for the audit software system.PricewaterhouseCoopers is an equal opportunity employer.
REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirement:
4 year degree in computer science, behavioral science, or equivalent
Advanced degree highly desirableEssential Requirements:
3-5 or more years experience in interactive user interface design
Familiarity with current usability research, user-centered design processes, and application frameworks
Strong graphics design skills
Experience in design/build or rapid prototyping
Experience with thick client design under Windows and/or .NET preferredThe Iterative Design User Interface Designer should have experience in design / build techniques, iterative programming (rapid prototyping), designing and building effective and intuitive user interfaces, and working in a team-based environment.The Iterative Design User Interface Designer works independently and uses professional judgment to understand requirements, develop options, design and analyze approaches, and work with programmers and testers to execute and test a software system. He or she will always have notable and relevant UI design experience, is up-to-date in their knowledge, and has strong academic preparation and/or a productive track record of programming in the research environment.Successful candidates will also have: good interpersonal skills; a demonstrated ability to work well in a group made up of team leads, extraordinary technical resources, project managers, architects, and external consultants; and the ability to work independently or as a team member with equal effectiveness and have excellent problem-solving skills.
