Research Engineer

Responsibilities;
Implements plan of action as instructed by Project Manager(s)/Project engineer(s)
Determines lab work schedules and specifies equipment requirements
Quality Assurance responsibility for operating procedures / revisions / maintenance, control point for documents / data / drawings (eventually become ISO 9000 certified)
Implements Continuous Process Improvement
Responsible for maintenance and calibration of equipment
Document processes to develop written procedures for use by technicians
Insure procedures and quality controls in place
Responsible for implementation of health and safety procedures in the lab
Establish and maintain equipment calibration
Equipment maintenance /service /service agreements
Trouble shoot equipment issues
REQUIREMENTS
1 to 2 years of experience in material development and process environment
Knowledge of vacuum equipment with diffusion pumps and high vacuum capability is a plus
Understanding of heat treating of metals in inert gas (e.g., Ar, He) environments and quenching to room temperature.
Induction heating: 30kW to 50kW power supplies for melting alloys Casting.
Mechanical testing in environmental chambers (Inert gas)
Servo-hydraulic equipment (22kip) for tensile / compression testing and forging tests is a plus
Self starter to lead and train technicians
Experience in research and development environment is desired
Familiar with lab software such as; Labview, Data analysis, Electronic data acquisition
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Power Point, Project
