The regional area in which Pittsburgh is located, with its four surrounding counties, is ranked 19th in size in the country with a population of approximately 2.3 million people It is home to major sports teams, universities, cultural activities; and also offers exceptional outdoor recreation in all seasons.The incumbent will be responsible for the integrity of single photochromic lenses and the development of new polymer testing platform for initial screen of hydrophilic PC dyes. The incumbent will make improvements to optical bench instruments and design optical bench experiments to provide data for both R&D and marketing needs. In addition, the incumbent will coordinate standards evaluation of product lenses.A PhD in physics/optics/chemistry or equivalent experience is required. Mechanical aptitude is desired. C++ programming is a plus. The candidate must possess a fundamental understanding of optics, polymer systems and variables affecting cures. Familiarity with statistical design of experiment tools is desired.
