Working under general supervision of a manager or project leader and following established policies and procedures, provides assistance on research and clinical studies. May be responsible for the following activities: recruiting, advertising and evaluating potential participants for studies; collecting and organizing data; scheduling participants for study visits; performing clinical tests such as EKGs, etc; assisting in data collection and subject monitoring during study execution; maintaining and updating data and records generated by the study for analysis and/or regulatory purposes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Provides assistance in collecting data, monitoring subjects, and monitoring data collection equipment during research and/or clinical studies as per study guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and study protocols. Sets up necessary equipment and orders supplies.2. In concert with manager and/or project leader, develops and implements patient/subject recruitment strategies. Organizes advertising campaign to recruit study participants, including but not limited to: designing and preparing letters and mailings; flyer design and posting; internet ad postings; emailing information to interested participants; newspaper ad design, scheduling, and postings. Works within budget to keep steady supply of inquires regarding studies.3. Evaluates potential participants to see if they meet study inclusion/exclusion criteria, including but not limited to: telephone interviews; scheduling participants for study visits and screening tests/exams; administering, scoring and evaluating screening questionnaires; coordinating screening exams with clinic staff, physicians, psychologists and Project Leaders; performing clinical tests such as EKGs and color blindness tests; maintaining study inclusion/exclusion checklists.4. Interacts with study participants to ensure they are fully informed about the study, including human research subject education, procedural instructions, and follow up. Serves as a liaison between study participant and study staff.Collects and maintains data to meet study and regulatory (IRB, FDA, funding agency) requirements. May be required to input data, perform analysis, and present reports on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis. Assists Project Leader in preparation of IRB applications, amendments, annual reports, and preparation of grant applications and annual reports.5. Prepares payment requests.6. Maintains inventory and orders supplies when needed.7. May be required to assist in the training and/or orientation of
new staff.8. Performs all others duties, as required.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONSHigh School graduate with 1-2 yrs of college preferred courses in biology, psychology, advertising, public relations or related area, or equivalent experience.Relevant work experience preferred.One to two years related work experience (customer service) preferred.Working knowledge and proficiency with the following computer software preferred: Word, email and Excel.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Busy administrative/laboratory environment. Occasional intense periods of work can be associated with particular scientific deadlines (i.e. grant proposals, meetings).During research studies evening, overnight and/or weekend work may be required.Potential exposure to blood-borne diseases through contact with biological specimens.
