Production Manager

General Summary
Position will be responsible for managing Pilot Plant production activities, schedules and personnel within operations. Duties will include, but not be limited to managing the plant schedule, sanitation, special batch and test execution. Candidate will also be responsible for Quality Assurance that will include but not be limited to plant regulatory compliance, adherence to and execution of Corporate Quality audits, ingredient and equipment storage on and offsite. The individual must also be knowledgeable of OSHA, USDA and FDA regulations pertaining to the Pilot Plant and R&D Facilities. Finally, candidate must possess the ability to communicate and manage expectations up and down the chain of command and manage Pilot Plant
organization and responsibilities ensuring that all resources are efficiently distributed to meet objectives.Principal Accountabilities
Oversee the general efficiency of the Pilot Plant with improvement recommendations to plant manager 30%
Execution of QA audit recommendations 20%
Manage GMP, pest control, sanitation and HAACP systems through inspections. Develop and introduce plans to implement QA initiatives and continuous improvement 20%
Define group mission, alignment of business goals, set individual accountabilities 10%
Quality and Safety 10%
Identify skill requirements, plan personnel development (IDP) and training 5%
General Administrative 5%
Job Complexity
Working with the Operations Supervisor Manage overall plant operations evaluating efficiency with special batch / test preparation, ingredient procurement and execution
Develop improvement recommendations and work with plant maintenance and engineering on execution.
Manage R&D expectations with overall plant improvement, feedback forms, floor inspection and participation in kitchen product inspection
Manage FDA, USDA and CSC compliance programs documentation and communications
Verify GMP's, pest control, housekeeping, sanitation, HAACP systems meet requirements through inspections, mock recalls, audits and corrective action. Develop and introduce plans to implement QA initiatives and continuous improvement
Working with the Sr. QA Supervisor Manage Pilot Plant audit program
Define group mission, alignment of business goals that comply with HR policy/procedures, set individual accountabilities and measures and execution, performance reviews that demonstrate individual performance improvements and address issues with HR involvement
Identify skill requirements, plan personnel development (IDP) and training
Is able to interview and hire strong, talented candidates
Contributes to hire/fire decisions
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
Minimum education required: BS or Associates with 10+years exp
Education preferred: BS
Minimum Experience: 5+ years exp in mfg, operations, product commercialization, project managementQualifications
Knowledge of Brand Products and the Food Manufacturing Process
Experienced in thermal processing, execution of formula and procedures, food safety, and sanitation
Strong leadership and managerial skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong developmental, coordination, implementation, and prioritization skills
