NURSE PRACTITIONER, CLINICAL RESEARCH

As a result of the July 2000 reaffiliation with Scripps Clinic, Scripps now has approximately 10,000 employees and also cares for patients at 12 Scripps Clinic locations throughout San Diego County.Division: Scripps HospitalsDepartment: WHITTIER DIABETES PROGRAMJob Type: Full-TimeShift Type: DaysShift Hours: 8 Hr ShiftPosition Profile: The NP serves as a liaison between the organization, investigators, and the research sponsors and is the coordinator and leader for the ACCORD trial. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be familiar with the clinical research process and human subject’s protection regulation. Under indirect supervision the NP is responsible for assessment of health status, development of treatment plan, implementation of the plan, follow-up, evaluation and health education of patient status according to the ACCORD protocol and other protocols as delegated by the chief medical officer. Supervises and/or coordinates the activities of patient care and/or support staff. Other responsibilities include recruiting, retaining, motivating and educating research patients in the ACCORD trial, training other research personnel in research procedures, managing research finances and tracking patient enrollment. Works with other disciplines to execute trials, and acts as patient advocate to contribute to the overall research objectives of the program. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS
Preferred Qualifications: Experience/Specialized Skills:
Minimum five years experience as a registered nurse. Prefer two years of experience in the Advanced Practice Nurse/NP role. Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English, Bilingual preferred, excellent interpersonal skills required. Experience in Diabetes/Cardiovascular Care Preferred. Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors;

Masters Degree in Nursing
Required Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Active license (Registered Nurse) State of California, Current BLS-C Provider; Board Certification in NP specialty preferred; CDE preferred.
