Medical Laboratory Assistant (PT) - Ft. Lauderdale (Palms South)

Job Title: Laboratory Assistant, General
Reports To: Assistant Director

Summary:
Interacts and assists the Technologist/Technician in the daily operation of the Laboratory.

Qualifications:
1) Demonstrated “can do” kind of person who embrace change with maturity
knowledge and proactive behavior.
2) Demonstrated reading and writing capabilities to perform described job duties.
3) Demonstrated ability to be organized, manage a continuous flow of work, prioritization of work load using defined criteria.

Education:
1) High School Diploma or G.E.D.
2) Minimum of 6 months of laboratory medical experience.

Job Functions:
1) Assist Technologists/Technicians to evaluate Pending List.
2) Assist Technologists/Technicians in filing results.
3) Assist in receiving and accessioning of samples when needed.
4) Centrifuge and separate samples for testing.
5) Transport, pour off and organize patient samples, as needed.
6) Assist Technologists/Technicians in handling problem specimens in conjunction with Client Service.
7) Perform routine archiving of patient samples.
8) Rotation and disposal of patient samples within refrigerator.
9) Prepares workloads for testing.
10) Assists in cleaning and tidiness of work area.
11) Assist Technologists/Technicians in transporting, loading reagents/supplies and updating inventory.
12) Performing special projects as assigned by the supervisors.
13) Other functions as designated by supervisor.
