Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer Consultant 4-6 month assignment (possible regular full time position if candidate demonstrates results) to perform the following responsibilities: Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to the design and development of new ventilation system products as well as product changes and enhancements. Solve mechanical engineering problems at the component through system level. Conduct testing utilizing existing test protocols or develop new ones as needed and generate written reports. Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawing and processes. Ability to provide work direction to lab personnel (technicians / temp workers) Complete projects in a manner consistent with corporate objectives. Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies in addition to medical, technical, and biomedical developments related to company products.
REQUIREMENTS
BSME and 5 or more years experience. Mechanical ventilation experience preferred and/or hands on pneumatic design experience in one or more of the following areas: Designing Injection Molded plastic components, Designing for Ultrasonic weld assembly, Characterizing pneumatic performance of fixed orifice based devices, General machine design, O-ring seal design, Tolerance analysis skills, Knowledge of over molded high temp plastic, Knowledge of silicone diaphragm design, Solenoid valve design, and Pneumatic manifold design. In addition experience with fluids background including development experience with hydraulic valves, pumps and/or compressible flow applications required. Hands-on development expertise in developing new mechanical systems including the ability to work effectively in a lab environment to quickly develop first prototypes. Sheet metal housing and machined assemblies and design of plastic injection parts and motorized mechanisms required.PC software: 3+ years Solidworks experienceAvailable 40+ hours/week
