Lead Researcher
Under limited supervision, responsible for the analysis of data, primarily tactical research and various long-term research projects. Researches various aspects of trends and insurance loss distributions. Provides analysis in developing advanced pricing, retention, and other business models. Additional responsibilities may include:1.Manages all aspects of complex research projects. Negotiates project objectives and direction with senior managers. Translates Product/ Department/ Division needs into a comprehensive project plan which ensures successful project completion and achieves business objectives. As a project leader, may supervise a team of analysts assigned to specific projects.2.Prepares periodic written reports and/or presentations for senior management regarding research project status, including renegotiating project direction as necessary.3.Queries and manipulates Liberty Mutual systems to provide the data needed for the study and verifies the accuracy of the data.4.Constructs queries and writes SQL. Designs user-friendly tools to be used by management.5.Analyzes data, presents results and provides recommendations to regional management. Acquires agreements from management and coordinates action items with other departments as necessary.6.Identifies sources and relationships of corporate data and makes recommendations/decisions regarding consolidation and storage of data for access by Division/Department Managers.7.Performs additional duties as required.8.Makes significant contribution in product development and loss models.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics or Insurance preferred or equivalent experience plus 6 to 8 years of related experience. Masters degree preferred. Advanced math, analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong presentati
on and project management skills. Advanced knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting and ratemaking concepts required. Knowledge of the functions of various departments, such as Finance UW, Claims, Stats, IT, Legal and Sales, required. Advanced communication skills and negotiation skills.
