Laboratory Technician II

Position Purpose: Use established procedures, analytical, and technical skills to provide quality analytical services in a prompt manner for the customers of Sure-Tech Labs. Use computer software to log sample into lab database. Follow sample drying and grinding procedures to produce representative subsamples suitable for lab analysis. Use chemicals, equipment, and procedures to perform analysis of feeds, forages, fertilizer, and manure, including moisture, protein, acid detergent fiber, and neutral detergent fiber. Some chemicals used may be hazardous and require a fundamental understanding of safe chemical handling procedures. Effectively use the lab computer system in analytical work. Use NIR equipment and software for routine sample testing. Collect analytical data to support NIR calibration and monitoring. REQUIREMENTS
Required (Basic) Experience & Education: Studies in Science, experience in a lab involved in high volume testing desirable. Must demonstrate an understanding of lab equipment and technique to safely perform weighings, titrations, pipetting, etc... Must be a high school graduate. Must demonstrate successful communication skills to interface closely and effectively with the lab team concerning sample types, quantity received, and special instructions associated with samples. Must have a practical understanding of mathematics.Required Competencies & Other Skills: Computer skills, general working knowledge, and programming a plus.Preferred Experience & Education: Some college level chemistry and mathematics a plus.
