Laboratory Animal Technician

SAIC-Frederick, Inc., a subsidiary of Science Applications International Corporation and the technical and operations support contractor for the National Cancer Institute-Frederick, has an opening for a Laboratory Animal Technician in Bethesda, Maryland.
Position responsibilities: Responsible for the daily care of research animals for experimental purposes, which include the tasks associated with an Animal Caretaker II. Spends a major portion of time performing specialized technical procedures necessary to maintain continuous operation of an animal facility or to assist in the conducting of animal experiments.

REQUIREMENTS
Requirements: Any combination of education and progressively responsible technical experience which qualifies the candidate to sit for the LAT Certification Exam within 12 months of hire –or- Associate degree in Life Sciences or Veterinary Technology. Ability to demonstrate efficient performance of standardized operating procedures for an animal facility; learn and perform technical procedures; lift up to 50 lbs., construct and solve simple mathematical equations and utilize basic computer skills. Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures for animal facilities.
