Job descriptions:

Develop new materials for pigmented ink jet inks. Background in physical polymer chemistry preferred to work with synthetic and formulation chemists to help design and characterize novel soluble polymers and latexes. Interaction with external suppliers in the pursuit of colorants or other technology that needs to be acquired for use by HP. When appropriate, interaction with external ink and material manufacturers to scale-up and qualify inks, colorants or other novel materials. Communication of your work at periodic and required intervals and at the appropriate forums (staff meetings, reviews, etc...). Travel, as needed, to partner media and printer divisions, external suppliers, and conferences/trade-shows.



Researches and identifies causes of formulation, design or technical problems. Carries out analysis and evaluation of new materials and formulations to ensure that fundamentals are fully understood, basic problems are solved, and that the design is sufficiently robust to continue to meet regulatory and HP quality standards. Takes active role in generation of Intellectual Property through patent generation.


REQUIREMENTS
Education:

Masters degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or other physical science area that would qualify the individual for the necessary formulation work and chemical investigations (Ph.D. highly preferred)

Experience/Skills:











Candidates should have a strong background in physical, organic, or polymer chemistry. This may include surface chemistry, rheology, particle interactions, colloidal stability, polymer pigment interactions, knowledge of particle/pigment morphology, familiar with analytical methods for studying solutions or coatings.

Excellent communications skills and the ability to work with internal & external partners at the technical and interpersonal relationship levels.
Formulation experience in inks.
Knowledge in color science area.
Prior experience working with external suppliers, vendors or manufacturers.

Demonstrated understanding of inkjet printers and writing systems.

Able to work effectively with external partners at a technical and interpersonal level.
