Director of Research and Development

Summary

Bay State Milling Company, a leading manufacturer of grain-based food ingredients for over one hundred years, with facilities located across the United States, has an outstanding opportunity to join our growing organization as Director of Research & Development in our newly created Blending Business Unit.

As Director of Research & Development, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating, organizing and executing a Research and Development Program to help grow the Company’s Blending Business Unit. The position will report directly to the Vice-President, Quality Assurance and Research & Development.

Key elements of this objective:
•Create a strong linkage between the culinary industry and BSM;
•Maintain constant contact within the culinary industry and respond to the demands for new or novel blended or grain based products;
•Serve as the Lead Formulator for the Blending Business Unit and develop raw material specifications and testing protocols for all ingredients used in the Blending Business Unit.

Areas of responsibility will include bakery mix formulation, milling R & D, and customer service.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications

The applicant must have superior verbal and written communication and listening skills, proven technical background in the food industry, preferably in the flour milling industry and must be willing to relocate to the Winona, Minnesota area. The position will also require extensive travel to the Company’s facilities, customer sites, ingredient vendor facilities and university research sites to meet the Company’s business objectives.
