Tracks data center capacity metrics for physical space, available power/circuits, HVAC, server rack space, MDF/ports. Plans and recommends solutions to provision infrastructure resources to meet business need. Researches and recommends new technology solutions to maximize data center operating effectiveness. Leads data center infrastructure projects for new technology implementations and upgrades. Provides oversight, and coordinates the daily activities, of third party cable/server installation vendors. Prioritizes, then directs work flow to effectively utilize resources to meet production schedules. Possesses a holistic understanding of data center operations and is familiar with functional operations of servers, storage devices, tape management systems, network gear, and structured cable/fiber layouts.Qualifications
5-7 years experience in the following areas: management of server rack planning and installation; sub floor and/or overhead structured cable/fiber plant installation and planning; data center space planning; use of tools to map the data center physical infrastructure (i.e. Visio, Aperture); use a data center capacity metrics to plan future activities to support growth and new technologies; ability to work closely and interact with other IT infrastructure teams; device and cabinet power distribution options; demonstrated ability to work independently and complete assigned project responsibilities under limited supervision;Skills in the following areas a plus:
Cooling systems (CRACs, heat exchangers, heat dissipation methods
Power: UPS, generation, utility power capabilities
Data Center fire suppression: familiarity with latest fire suppression technology
(FM-200/HFC-227 based)
