General Summary of Position Responsibility:The Research Associate II will be responsible for daily management and coordination of research studies. The Research Associate II will work with multiple team members, collaborate with principal investigators, communicate with funding agencies including private and government agencies, write reports as they pertain to single and multi-site studies and ensure that study regulations are followed. Coordination of ongoing studies as well as the development and implementation of new studies are key components of this position.The Research Associate II will be responsible for the coordination of NIH studies within the Children’s Memorial Neurology Division/Epilepsy Center. Additionally, the Research Associate II will work with individuals at multiple sites, including Children’s, who collect study-related data as well as staff who recruit research participants. The Research Associate II will be required to run independent data analysis and assist principal investigators in preparing reports for publication.Essential Job Functions:1. Manage research studies including coordination with principal investigators, technicians, research assistants and healthcare team members as well as oversee participant recruitment and retention.2. Lead in preparation of IRB submissions and ensure that studies adhere to IRB regulations.3. Establish data collection and entry procedures, supervise Research Assistants in data collection and provide quality assurance.4. Prepare and manage study budgets.5. Perform independent statistical analysis.6. Write reports including results of statistical analysis, progress reports to IRB and funding agencies and journal articles.7. Develop and implement new research protocols including identification and submissions for additional grant support.8. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:1. Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s preferred), preferably in a research or health related field.2. Two years of working experience in a research or health related field required including an understanding of research processes.3. Strong analytical skills and the ability to do statistical analysis.4. Ability to work independently with limited supervision.5. Ability to follow ethical and legal regulations concerning research with human subjects.6. Knowledge of or demonstrated ability to learn Microsoft Office, SPSS, and Insight.7. Excellent leadership skills, ability to work with teams, excellent written, and oral communication skills, understating of data management and knowledge of hospital and research center systems and procedures.
