Assistant Technician

Conduct air monitoring field sampling and field and laboratory analyses for lethal chemical agents; operate air monitoring equipment for analysis of effluent gases; manage the use of solid sorbent sampling tubes; calibrate automated air sampling and gas chromatographs; perform field checks and routine maintenance on field air monitoring instruments; perform duties of Air Monitoring Response Team, including use of personal protective equipment, operation of high-level detector kits, determination of cause of alarm, and acquisition of solid sorbent sampling tubes for laboratory analysis; work with samples containing hazardous materials; complete required forms; maintain air monitoring stations; change compressed gas cylinders and dry desiccant tubes; operate PC software; enter toxic areas wearing appropriate level of personal protective equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent (one college-level chemistry course preferred) and 1 year chemical or environmental analytical laboratory experience. Must have PC skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software (MS Word, Excel, Access preferred); work rotating 12-hour day/night shifts. Must pass SwRI chemistry test. NOTE: Work assignment is in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Applicant selected will be subject to a background investigation, must be a U.S. citizen, and have a valid driver's license, satisfy requirements of National Agency Check and Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), meet physical requirements, and be able to wear personal protective equipment.
