Sr. Software Test Engineer- 3 month contract

SUMMARY: •In this role, you will verify and validate Rapiscan Security products (hardware functionality as controlled by software) by use of formal test documents and your experience. You will work closely with Product Development staff. This position will require the ability to provide leadership to other Software Test Engineers and to be able to work as an individual contributor and in small teams. You will work under general supervision, but must exercise independent judgment within established Rapiscan policies and procedures and TSA guidelines. The work environment demands precision, organization, and attention to detail; however, work tasks require a significant amount of creativity and innovation. You must understand and support Rapiscan’s mission, priorities, and company values. Determine number and type of tests based on statistical reliabilty and conference calculations.
DUTIES: •Validation and verification of software on Rapiscan Systems’ products. Use commercial test programs or create such programs to create software functionality tests. Identify deviations in device functionality as compared to specifications, test plans, scripts, and other documents. Use your experience with hardware and software functionality to formulate and execute test cases. •Validate information systems through manual entry of data, test programs and visual inspection of displays. Prepare test plans, scripts, forms, and flow sheets and verify they populate appropriately. •Assist Engineering in troubleshooting software problems on released products by attempting to duplicate reported problem scenarios. •Perform installation or loading of software applications onto units under test and test fixtures. •Assist with the setup and configuration of networks to simulate actual use in the field. Connect Rapiscan products to other machines, networks, and machines form other manufacturers. Record equipment serial numbers and software version numbers for all equipment used for a test. Connect and configure appropriate system simulators. •Communicate findings from test sessions through on-going verbal exchanges, demonstration and formal written reports. Enter findings into the bug-tracking database as they occur. Email product development staff as required. Generate formal reports at the end of a test cycle. •Create and keep up work instructions and testing documents. •May be asked to validate and recommend modifications in product manuals to ensure accuracy and completeness. •May be asked to run field tests of products. Observe and document user interaction/response and product performance. •Assist lead with special projects and all other assignments as required.
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTS: •Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required. •A minimum of 5 years experience in software testing, including formal tests, is required. •Must be versed in computer programming languages such as DOS, Visual Basic (VB), C and its derivatives (C++, C#). •Must be Internet savvy. •Strong interpersonal skills are required. •Excellent verbal and written communication skills. •Must be innovative and have strong problem solving skills. •Must be able to provide leadership to others.
