Quarantine Inspector

BASIC JOB FUNCTION

Under the direct supervision of the Q&I Supervisor, the Q&I Inspector is responsible for inspection of filled containers. The Inspector is also responsible for setting up, adjusting, troubleshooting and operating the tray-loader and turntable; verification of product received into Q&I, managing the workstation, line clearances/cleanings and the documentation of all activities. Responsible for performing job tasks in strict adherence to SOPs, cGMPs and FDA requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. At least one year work experience including six months in a regulated environment; production environment experience preferred. Must be able to successfully complete internal forklift and Walkie-Reach truck certification. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated ability to operate hand trucks and pallet jacks.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspects filled products and media for visual defects, container/closure integrity, particulate matter, or other anomalies.

Receives, stores and verifies products received into Q&I including use of hand trucks, pallet racks and trayed products.

Completes departmental documentation to include review of batch records and computer inventory transactions.

Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots the trayloader and turntable. 5%

Performs line cleanings/clearances including visually and manually ensuring no foreign products or components remain on the line.


ADDITIONAL JOB RELATED INFORMATION

The Quarantine Inspector may perform additional duties in the Packaging Department based upon departmental workload and the production schedule. Under the direct supervision of the Packaging Supervisor, the Quarantine Inspector may perform manual functions associated with packaging the product including loading components and packing packaged product.
REQUIREMENTS
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Commonly ensures the safe receipt, storage, movement, and use of hazardous chemical substances. Personnel are required to familiarize themselves with the hazardous characteristics of chemical materials in their areas through the review of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) provided by Steris Laboratories, Inc. Vision correctable to 20/20, manual dexterity, sitting for prolonged periods of time, stoop, bend, crawl, reach and safely lift 40 lbs.
