Quality Control Microbiology Supervisor

Shift: A ShiftLast Updated: 7/26/2006Duties and Responsibilities: This position is responsible for supervising all environmental monitoring, finished product and raw materials testing for Form-Fill-Seal (FFS) and nasal spray production activities. Interviews, hires and supervises exempt and non-exempt QC Microbiology personnel. Prepares performance appraisals, facilitates disciplinary actions, and resolves personnel issues. Supervises all microbiology/laboratory activities and coordinates environmental monitoring and in-process and finished product testing of Nasal Spray and FFS operations and products. Reviews and approves data and results and must have a thorough understanding of and experience with the following: Environmental monitoring Clean utilities sampling and testing Product bioburden testing Aseptic processing validation Media and reagent preparation, negative controls and growth promotion testing Laboratory equipment and instrumentation Sterility testing with an isolator system Organizes and directs departmental and interdepartmental meetings. Participates in and supervises the training of exempt and non-exempt QC Microbiology personnel, including microbiological theory, procedure, and safety training. Participates in internal and external audits. Interacts with auditors and responds to observations and recommends corrective action. Writes and reviews validation protocols and data summaries for environmental and clean utility system monitoring, test methods, equipment and clean room systems.
REQUIREMENTS
Four-year college degree in biological or physical sciences Five years laboratory experience Two years pharmaceutical Microbiology laboratory experience Previous supervisory experience College level coursework in Microbiology Knowledge of cGMP’s, USP, and applicable standards and regulatory requirements DEY supports diversity in the work place.
