QA Analyst

Gelco Information Network is a leading provider of comprehensive outsourced services for travel expense management and trade promotion management solutions for consumer goods manufacturers. Gelco has an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Analyst at our Headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN.

Position Statement:,/b>
A Quality Assurance (QA) position responsible for performing testing activities, which utilize processes that ensure high quality web based proprietary software products. To assist in the planning, administration, and control of activities required for web based software releases.

Essential Functions:
Understands requirements of assigned projects
Proficient, effective and independently develops and maintains test cases and test scripts for User Interface (UI), Functional, Data Validation scripts/queries and System tests cases.
Performs testing activities including, but not limited to, new features/functional, regression, Sql query and system testing. Reports the test results to validate quality and document the discrepancies uncovered during the test cycle.
Updates defect reporting system (currently Radar).
Prepares descriptive and well-written status reports and defect reports for management review, or maintaining project related documentation.
In conjunction with QA Associate Analysts, Senior Analysts, interacts with the project team, development team, solutions and testing team to ensure the overall success of the project.
Assists Quality Assurance Project Lead on all assigned tasks.
Prepares test environment and testing data for a successful test execution. Modifies and reuses the test environment and test data as necessary.
Participates in the development and execution of automated test scripts in conjunction with QA Associate Analysts, Senior Analysts, and/or QA Lead as requested.
Performs workflow analysis and recommends quality improvements.
Provide effective coworker/peer review feedback (ongoing or during annual performance review)
Proficient in the development of a gap analyses between requirements and design documents or other features documentation.
Provides and is proficient submitting timely Weekly Status Report, Time tracking and other misc duties as assigned
Proficient in the creation of Test Strategies and Test Plans.
Proficient at task/time estimating models. Able to providing accurate time estimates for new requirements and or enhancements.

REQUIREMENTS
Special Skills Required to Perform Essential Functions:
BA or BS degree in computer science or related area of study or equivalent work experience
Quality Assurance experience to include; Two to four years experience with Web or software
application Testing/Quality Assurance processes or methodologies.
Clear and demonstrated understanding of the Project Life Cycle, Quality Assurance methodologies – from Requirements, to Development, Test Scripting, Test Execution, Correction testing processes and Deployment procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate on a technical & non-technical level
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities
Ability to work in a team environment and be open to change
Must be detail-oriented and accurate
Possess good judgment, strong analytical & negotiating skills, be committed to teamwork and continuous process improvement
Need to have strong one-on-one interpersonal skills
Proficient, willing and self directed to take on additional tasks/projects related to continual process improvement.
Ability to set priorities, self-motivated, meet or exceed deadlines and work independently.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality
Prefer the following knowledge and experience: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, SQL for Oracle, Silk
Radar, CVS (tortoise), Confluence, Ultra Edit
Proficient in the creation, usage and understanding of Mid-level data queries using SQL (Structured Query Language), PL/SQL, & Araxis Merge.
Working knowledge/understanding of Gelco's automated & performance testing tools. (WinRunner & Silk Performer)
Working knowledge/understanding of XML Spy and Power Designer.
Job Specifications:
The Job requires working on a personal computer an average of 8 hours per day
The Job requires frequent communication via telephone, e-mail, IM meetings and/or face to face.
The Job requires occasional overtime evenings/nights and weekend work due to project deliverables/deployments
