Mechanical Inspector

Division: Lemont RefiningDepartment: Lemont Tech Services & EngineeringOrganization: Lemont ReliabilityJob Description: Perform all work in a safe, incident free manner. Supervise NDE technicians such that they also work safely. Follow-up on any safety incident. Conduct safety audits on work in progress; especially work being performed by NDE technicians. Present topics at safety meetings. Attend & participate in HAZOP meetings. Meet all HAZOP deadlines for assigned action items.Maintain an inspection plan that is in compliance with all applicable laws and industry standards. This plan will provide inspection services that minimize failures. This includes activities such as WFMT inspections of equipment in wet H2S, caustic, MEA, & HF acid service. Communicate findings and recommendations to Operations & Maintenance in a timely manner.Maintain all required documentation to satisfy Lemont Refinery’s Owner/User QA/QC manual and the Mechanical Integrity Program. This includes keeping the PCMS database current & valid.Develop scopes of work for T/As. All equipment replacements will have detailed calculations, in terms of corrosion rates and minimum required thickness, to justify the expense. Any major work should be identified in time for inclusion in the appropriate budget. Understand the applicable Codes and apply this knowledge to help make good decisions.Participate with others in the Asses Area to troubleshoot problem equipment, identify “bad actors” and the “run limiters”. Develop plans to solve problems, eliminate the “bad actors” and to increase run lengths. When needed, write engineering requests.Perform quality assurance / quality control on new fabrication and on maintenance repairs to fixed equipment. This includes initial shop audits before a fabricator is added to the Lemont approved bidders list, as well as, shop audits during equipment fabrication. QA/QC responsibility also encompasses positive material identification of all alloy material and all welding consumables.Have a personal development plan to maintain the required skills and acquire new ones. Added skills sets, such as broader knowledge of corrosion, coatings, CP, advanced NDE techniques, etc, can increase value contribution.

Minimum Qualifications: High School DiplomaNational Board Owner/User CommissionAPI 510, 570, & 653 certificationASNT Level II UT, PT, MT & RT interpretationAWS Certified Welding InspectorState of Illinois Owner/User InspectorGood written and oral communication skillsBasic computer skills including Microsoft OfficePCMS experience is a definite plusAdvanced NDE credentials such as Level IIIAPI QUTE certification
