Laboratory Technician

Responsible for sampling and analyzing nutritional supplement raw materials and finished products by GFAA (Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption) and FAA (Flame Atomic Absorption).
Research, develop, optimize, and validate new methods of digestion and analysis.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the instruments.
Other duties include using techniques such as IR (Infrared) spectroscopy, wet chemistry, stability testing, and microbiological screening.
Provide accurate, precise and timely reporting of results.
Aid in the general flow of lab procedures.
Maintain familiarity and conformity with laboratory and company SOP’s including safety policies.
Perform additional responsibilities, including special projects, as requested or assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
BS degree in Chemistry with at least one year of GFAA work experience preferred.
Additional GFAA work experience may be substituted for education.
Two to four years experience in the sampling and analysis of nutritional supplement raw material and finished products or similar laboratory experience.
Knowledge of the theory and practical application of GFAA and FAA (including digestion techniques).
Ability to research, develop, optimize, and validate new methods of analysis. Must be able to evaluate analytical results and note trends in data. Skill with IR, wet chemistry, stability testing, HPLC, and microbiology a plus.Must be able to perform mathematical calculations used in the lab.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Proficient computing skills, including the use of spreadsheets and word processors.
Ability to learn the operation of instrument software.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating and maintenance procedures.
Must be capable of issuing routine reports.
Must be proficient with the English language with the ability to communicate clearly and precisely both orally and in writing with all employees.
Candidates must either be US citizens or hold a valid Green Card to be considered.
