DRS Technologies, Inc is a diversified, high technology company serving global defense, government and commercial markets. This challenging opportunity is located at the Corporate Headquarters office of DRS Technologies, in Arlington, VA.This position will lead the development and implementation of the DRS Corporate Trade Compliance Program by creating corporate policies, standard processes and procedures. Assesses compliance with applicable laws and regulations through a comprehensive audit and assessment program. Leads the DRS Trade Compliance Training Program and Export Compliance Council. Provides expert guidance on international trade regulations affecting DRS. Primary contact and interface on export compliance issues for DRS with the US government.
At the direction of the Corporate Director, this position leads the development of the DRS corporate Compliance Program and directs the implementation of the program’s processes and procedures throughout the corporation. Performs asset efficiency tests to determine asset utilization and make recommendations for improvement. Provides expert guidance on international trade compliance matters. Develops and directs the DRS Trade Compliance Training Program. Directs the DRS Compliance Audit Program to insure proper implementation of the compliance program and assess business unit adherence to the laws and regulations governing international trade.Investigates potential incidences of non-compliance and recommends appropriate action to senior corporate management. Engages in export policy issues affecting the business groups to minimize the impact of burdensome regulatory constraints on legitimate international trade. Leads the DRS Export Compliance Council. Leads the expansion of the Trade Compliance office program to include compliance with US Customs laws and regulations, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and investigates opportunities to reduce cost.This position is an Empowered Official under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and, as such has special legal authority as defined in 22 CFR 120.25. Mistakes may cause the imposition of significant fines, penalties and, in severe instances, criminal/civil prosecution and/or loss of export privileges for the company.Bachelor’s degree is required preferably in international affairs, international business or a related area (or equivalent in education and experience) and a Master’s degree is preferred. Travel required 25-50% of the time. 10-15 years experience in all aspects of international trade compliance. Practical experience managing trade compliance programs is mandatory for success in the position (or equivalent in education and experience). Subject matter expert in then field of export compliance with a comprehensive working knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), other laws and regulations governing international trade. Knowledge of U.S. Customs Regulations, U.K export regulations and Canadian export regulations desired, but not required. Must be a US person as defined by 22 CFR 120.15. Strong leadership skills required directing and motivating multi-disciplinary stakeholders to take appropriate action for compliance with complex regulatory requirements. Strong written and oral communication skills. Is able to prioritize in a high-volume, multi-tasking environment. Must be able to quickly synthesize technical and program information and apply regulatory requirements. Must exercise excellent judgment and make decisions based on clearunderstanding of the regulations, must be able to project authority necessary to achieve compliance.
