Data Quality Director
Position Summary: Data Quality Director
Candidate must possess a combination of analytical skills with broad IT knowledge to help enhance the quality, usability and availability of information. The right candidate will leverage data analysis and business process experience to help evaluate, improve and sustain the quality and integrity of corporate data. The Data Quality Director will oversee the planning and execution of data quality initiatives to improve the quality of corporate information, measure improvements, and monitor the ongoing health of data quality.
Responsibilities
Develop and coordinate the company's data quality program
Responsible for translating data quality strategies into operational plans and priorities
Performs research and analysis on the quality of data, identify data anomalies, reports findings, and collaborates with internal personnel to correct quality issues
Work with all business functions to communicate and apply data quality policies and procedures
Provide guidance and/or participation in all data quality improvement projects, committees and groups as directed or needed
Drive quality initiatives, processes and metrics to support key corporate strategies
Establish corporate policies and practices with regard to data quality
Develop programs to raise employee awareness of company's data quality objectives and programs
Establish plans to assess data standards compliance
Establish effective communication channels that ensure the flow of quality-related information into and out of the data quality group
Communicate with stakeholders regarding data quality findings
Facilitate decision-making, target setting, result expectations and prioritization of data quality efforts
Serve as a self-motivated process improvement change agent, working with the leadership teams and core business process owners
Necessary Skills
Strong knowledge of and experience with data integrity issues
Experience on projects related to data quality detection and improvement
Works independently with latitude for decision-making
Works collaboratively with other members of the program team to support data quality initiatives
Must possess leadership, group dynamics, critical thinking, data analysis, and organizational skills
Analytical and broad business perspective on issues, but also the ability to delve into detail
Multiple full-cycle implementation experience
Preferred Skills
Experience with data quality tools (Trillium or similar products)
Experience with a standard query language (preferably SQL)
Multiple data integration / data conversion /data consolidation (e.g., data warehouse, master data management, etc.) project experience desirable
Previous experience as a database administrator or architect
Education and Experience
Bachelors level education or equivalent directly related experience
Knowledgeable of current trends in data quality improvement
Demonstrated leadership, people management, and facilitative skills
Excellent organizational, leadership, decision making, and human relations skills
Communication Skills
Oral and written communication skills sufficient to communicate clearly and grammatically both complex and simple messages to a wide audience either within or outside of the organization
Strong skills in working across departmental lines to cultivate a productive network of collaborators
Computer Skills
Knowledge of email systems such a Microsoft Outlook sufficient to communicate with both internal and external contacts
Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and/or PowerPoint
