Transportation Manager

Our client is a very profitable $250M + Business with close to 1000 employees, growing at 25-30% annually, expected to be at a 1B+ in 5-7 years.
Work directly with parcel, LTL, TL carriers and/or 4PL firms to expand third-party freight program to maximize potential ROI and customer satisfaction.
Work directly with suppliers to integrate them into the 3PL program, and maintain and support the program with ongoing enhancements.
Analyze and negotiate rate agreements with transportation partners on a regular basis to ensure is operating under the most optimal pricing structure.Maintain superior service levels with carriers and recover costs associated with service failures.
Lead a team of 3 – 5 people who support transportation transaction flow, claims handling, carrier management and resolution of service issues.
Assess, design and implement appropriate changes to internal systems to support transportation and logistics initiatives, and electronically integrate and automate appropriate data.
Work closely with our IT team in building or bringing in the advanced technologies that will support and possibly direct our transportation and logistics initiatives.
Support network optimization analyses encompassing supplier base and sourcing strategies.
Optimize both domestic and international transportation initiatives to minimize cost and maximize supply chain agility to respond to changing market demands.
Assess and analyze domestic distribution opportunities as they pertain to internationally sourced products, optimizing third-party warehousing initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 5 years experience in transportation management, including contract negotiation, claims handling and carrier performance. Both LTL and parcel experience preferred
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic transportation initiativesFirm understanding of current technologies and how they can be deployed within a business
Exceptional analytical skills with a high comfort level for detail and process engineering
Expertise in Microsoft Excel and Word, and implementation of a TMS system preferredSuperior oral and written communication skills
Excellent negotiation skills with demonstrated success
The ability to shift priorities and deal with changing demands in an effective manner
Strong organizational skills
