Sr. Corporate Purchasing Agent
In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, contracting, and purchasing the major and/or critical items used in manufacturing, engineering, administrative, or research operations. This position has a significant impact to the corporations profit levels and is accountable for significant annual expenditures and can impact FDA approval of product and getting product to market. You must handle the preparation and development of strategies and tactics for negotiations and be responsible for managing and developing relationships with all levels of management at suppliers, internal customers, and purchasing personnel at all Hospira locations. You must also actively participate in the development and selection of supply sources by providing accurate and prompt market intelligence.

In addition, you will be responsible for solicitation and evaluation of proposals. You must have the ability to write and evaluate request for quotation (RFQ), request for information (RFI) and requests for proposal (RFP). You will evaluate competitive offerings and analyze various financial information to determine suppliers solvency, evaluate suppliers' price/cost structure and develop Hospira's total cost of ownership model. You will also prepare and develop strategies and tactics for negotiations to support divisions and outlying plants in the pricing, sourcing and negotiating of common goods and services.

Other responsibilities will be to establish and negotiate supply contracts for execution and implementation, oversee and coordinate resolution of problems with suppliers (quality, delivery, payments, etc.) and act as a team leader with suppliers and internal customers in the following areas: process quality improvement programs and cost reduction efforts. You must also develop and manage effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers. Successful candidate will possess excellent written/verbal communication skills and be highly organized.
REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in this position, you must possess:

College Degree with a major in one of the following areas preferred: Business, Science, Engineering or Financial Degree
Master’s Degree and/or MBA.
6-8 years of experience
C.P.M. certification is desired
Emphasis on business and technical aspects to insure proper purchasing practices. The appropriate level of skills necessary to effectively interface with all levels of Hospira employees and suppliers
Ability to work well in teams, and show a high degree of initiative to take a leadership role on projects
