Sr. Buyer (2006-019)
Responsibilities Of Position:
•Develop and lead sourcing strategies that drive measurable improvements in the areas of customer satisfaction, compliance and cost benefits in the procurement of goods and services.
•Procurement of materials and services for DRS-PCT Milwaukee, WI plant that meet: quality, delivery and cost goals that align with customer expectations, in accordance with company policy and procedures.
•Perform and/or coordinate financial analysis, develop the business case and secure buy-in of strategic drivers and imperatives to optimize benefits to DRS.
•Prepare purchase orders, based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids and other similar and necessary documents related to the purchasing of supplies, equipment, services and materials.
•Request quotes and bids for production material; prepare summary and comparison documenta¬tion. File appropriately
•Participate in cross-functional teams to implement cost, quality, and delivery strategies consistent with project requirements.
•Utilize supplier-rating system as a tool for assessing supplier capabilities and on-going supplier development activities.
•Initiate and follow through on any supplier changes (change point control).
•Communicate supplier performance including supplier visits as required.
•Maintain and Manage reports to document goals and communicate status to upper management.
•Work with department representatives to develop clear specifications and product needs.
•Develop business partnerships with internal customers and external suppliers.
•Be a liaison between DRS-PCT personnel and assigned supply base.
Take ownership and controlling the assigned commodity base from order entry to shipment to customer.
•Foster an environment of trust and credibility with internal and external customers.
•Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
•Facilitate and manage any supplier issues (i.e. cost, quality, delivery, customer service).
•Report regularly to Materials Manager on key metrics; assess current metrics looking for areas of needed improvement in performance, as well as in the metrics PCT measures and tracks, suggest and be prepared to initiate changes with the new fiscal year.
REQUIREMENTS
Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:
MS Office: Computer proficiency with standard software packages, including Word, Power Point and Excel.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight required.
Organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Requires the ability to understand military specs and read blue prints.
Conflict resolution and handle difficult situation in a professional manner. Prioritize and handle multiple duties/projects at one time
Experience/Education Required/Sought:
BS/BA in Business, Operations Management, Engineering or related field, with 5 years experience in a relevant purchasing environment.
Experience in Defense procurement or bid and proposal work highly desirable.
CPM or CPIM Certification desired.
Must be US Citizen.
