Senior Commodity Specialist - Metals
Job Profile: Support Hill-Rom’s needs in quality delivery, cost, service and technology in assigned commodities. Create ongoing business relationships with key suppliers to provide added value to the business.
Responsibilities - Other duties may be assigned:
1. For materials, components, and technologies assigned, analysis of Hill-Rom’s global requirements, current and future, in the areas of technology, quality, delivery and cost.
2. Analysis of Global markets and companies serving these markets in assigned materials, components, and technologies.
3. Formulation, articulation and communication of clear, concise and explicit strategies that meet Hill-Rom’s global technology, quality, delivery, and cost requirements for assigned materials, components, and technologies.
4. Development and implementation of sourcing plans and measure for performance of suppliers. Identify suppliers to be used for future business. Drive performance in the areas of Quality, Deliver and Cost.
5. Negotiations of price agreements, terms and conditions, contracts and confidential agreements as required.
6. Communications with, and support of, Product Teams, New Product Development Specialists, Supplier Quality, Site Manufacturing, Design Engineering, MMS, Planners and others in the supply chain process.
7. Create competitive advantage via leveraging the technological knowledge of the supply base into the new product process when appropriate.
8. With the input of others in the product supply chain process, evaluation and selection of Preferred Suppliers for materials, components and services.
9. Consistent compliance with high ethical standards.
REQUIREMENTS
Must Have The Following Skills/Qualifications:
1. Proven leadership skills and experience leading cross-functional teams.
2. Outstanding written and oral communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
3. Project management skills and experience.
4. Experience in supplier development in the respective commodity.
5. Two or more years experience writing and negotiating Supplier Performance Contracts, Teaming Agreements, and Partnerships/Joint Ventures in the respective commodity.
6. Strong PC user skills in Excel, Word, Access or similar systems.
The Following Skills/Qualifications Are Preferred:
1. B.S. Degree in Purchasing, Business Management, or Engineering.
2. Four plus years purchasing or engineering experience with materials, manufacturing, or supply chain management. Specific metals experience is a plus.
3. CPM or APICS certification
