Purchasing Manager

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for maintaining inventory to meet service levels and inventory turn objectives. Responsible for the development and training of purchasing specialists and maintaining an adequate work force concurrent with effective cost-control measures in order to maximize quality and productivity. Also identifies, develops and implements strategies to achieve competitive price advantages.



Position responsibilities include:

Works with the purchasing department to ensure: Coordination, direction, and supervision of purchasing activities involving buying stock and non-stock merchandise, special price bids, promotions, vendor negotiations, and other related functions to meet service levels and inventory turn objectives.

Responsible for monitoring reports to ensure procedure compliance. Monitor and improve productivity and quality while decreasing error probability.

Provide input to location budget. Conduct associate's Performance Planning and Review, ongoing performance discussions, and salary review recommendations.

Researches the market to stay informed of current trends, shortages and price fluctuations in order to negotiate pricing and services. Evaluates offshore and domestic suppliers.

May manage new store consolidations. Updates All Store Asset Schedules, pick sheets and contact sheets and manage reporting of same.

Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.

REQUIREMENTS


College degree or equivalent work experience Minimum of 3-5 years' purchasing and/or supervisory experience Knowledge of products, systems, and office products helpful
