Performs a variety of purchasing responsibilities specifically focused on the management of the Purchasing Department and its contractual agreements for commercial and R&D materials with focused attention to API raw materials. Responsible for controlling material costs for the development and manufacturing of KV Pharmaceutical products through the evaluation of proposals for price and terms negotiations, establishing contractual agreements, new product development sourcing, alternate sources, material specifications, material complaints, quality problems, establishing buying trends, establishing standard costs, consignment agreements, supplier selection, supplier consolidation, contract administration, and cost savings initiatives, monthly operations report, and savings reports.
Job Functions:
Manage the company`s material supply chain. Verify existing and potential suppliers abilities, expertise, production capabilities, and build relationships with their personnel.
Maintain an extensive knowledge of existing global API sources and continually seek out new potential sources.
Setup, analyze, and perform tough negotiations on pricing, terms, agreements, and supply of all commercial materials for KV Pharmaceutical to manufacture and support competitive pricing situations for its product development and production for its marketing companies, ETHEX and TherRx.
Initiate, conduct, and review annual raw material sourcing update for alternate/secondary suppliers of APIs to maintain competitive pricing, quality, and supply.
Develop strategies for negotiations on price reductions as well as handling increases and review with management for approval.
Maintain current information in PRISM (Pharmaceutical Research Information SysteM) internal tracking and reporting software to keep management updated with the latest information on new product development.
Other related duties as assigned to meet and support departmental and Company objectives.
Purchasing/Chemical/Regulatory/Quality Knowledge:
Possesses the ability and experience of managing and motivating all direct reports in the supply chain team.
Must possess strong negotiation skills. Formal training required.
Must be able to demonstrate proven track record of Purchasing knowledge and negotiation successes.
Strong knowledge of FDA GMP`s regulatory compliance requirements.
Education/Experience:
Extensive experience in the Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Minimum 5 years.
Experience and knowledge of chemical raw material buying and international sourcing.
Extensive contractual long-term negotiation experience with proven success.
Candidate should have a minimum of 4 year college degree. Purchasing, Business, or Chemistry degree preferred.KV Pharmaceutical is an equal opportunity employer.
