Purchasing Assistant

Springfield Custom Homes is located in Plano near 190 (the George Bush Turnpike). We have subdivisions throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and our homes range from entry-level to custom. We build from approximately 1,400 square feet to over 4,000 square feet. Our work environment is casual and fun.We are seeking a full-time Purchasing Assistant to work in our Plano office. This person’s main duties will be:
Purchasing
- Interact with builders, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Issue purchase orders- Input materials and customer color selections in QuickBooks
- Review and measure floor plans
- Process change orders
- Research problem invoices and purchase orders
- Obtain pricing / bids as needed
Warranty Work
- Interact with homeowners, builders, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Review requests for warranty work
- Schedule warranty work with homeowners and suppliers / subcontractors
- Track status of warranty work and follow up as needed
Accounting
- Perform general accounting tasks as assigned
- Serve as a back-up for accounting work
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements
- Previous purchasing experience or experience in the construction industry
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Word)
- Be organized and detail-oriented
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Able to work well under pressure
Preferred But Not Required
- Knowledge of QuickBooks
- Spanish-speaking
The salary range is up to $32,000 ($15.39/hour) and will be dependent upon experience and education. This is an hourly position. Given the small size of our company, we are unable to provide health and retirement benefits at this time. However, we are a growing company and there are opportunities to learn many different aspects of the homebuilding business.
