Purchasing Assistant

Our local area client is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant. The Purchasing Assistant’s primary responsibility will be coordinating the communication between the company and its vendors. Duties will include: 1. Faxing purchase orders to vendors. 2. Receiving acknowledgements from vendors regarding faxed purchase orders. 3. Inputting information from acknowledgements into the company’s accounting system. 4. Identifying late orders using an open order report. 5. Communicating with vendors regarding order status. 6. Alerting sales and customer service personnel regarding late orders. In addition to the above duties, the Purchasing Assistant will also be trained to produce purchase orders. Such training will include learning the merchandise which the company sells in addition to the variations that impact the price of the merchandise. The Purchasing Assistant will also be responsible for various other tasks within the accounting department, including: 1. Checking the list of daily sales for errors by salespeople 2. Tracking coupon usage at the company’s stores 3. Matching credit card receipts with daily store sales reports. 4. Other clerical and filing duties.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have strong computer skills. They should be intelligent, energetic, and have good people skills. Minimum 2 years experience in office environment. Prior purchasing experience a plus!
