Job Description:
The incumbent will be responsible for leading and/or facilitating BMS and cross company strategic sourcing initiative within the area of Technical Goods and Services, including all TK’s. This includes leading or facilitating cross company/cross functional teams which will identify cases in support of strategic supplier recommendations. In addition, this position will facilitate stakeholder buy in for sourcing recommendations and develop processes to track and measure cost reductions and benefits.

The incumbent will manage all aspects of the Bayer/Supplier relationship. This may include serving as the lead negotiator for contracts, establishing performance expectations, ensuring conformance to quality requirements and problem resolution. It is expected that this position will interact with mid-level management of those suppliers which provide materials or services within the assigned categories.

Note: Consistent with the global “Qualified Major User” concept, the responsibilities of this position apply across all Bayer businesses. This is essentially a “corporate” position which resides within the Bayer MaterialScience organization.

Basic Qualifications:
VS1.1
BA/BS with 6 years applicable business experience
MS/PhD with 0 years exp

VS 1.2
BA/BS with 8 years applicable business experience
MS/PhD with 2 years applicable business experience

In lieu of education 12 + years of applicable business and/or technical experience
Comprehensive knowledge of various commodity categories, procurement principles, negotiation techniques, general business practices and/or comprehensive knowledge regarding engineering of capital projects and/or maintenance of chemical producing facilities;
Demonstrated ability to manage diverse stakeholder interests and expectations.
Demonstrated strategic thinking skills.
Experience in building and managing strategic supplier relationships.
Demonstrated Project management experience/skills.
Demonstrated communication, interpersonal skills and networking skills
Ability to travel to various sites and Germany as business needs require - 20%

Preferred:
Engineering and/or maintenance experience
Understanding of Bayer Corporation/BMS policies and procedures
