Beverage Specialist/Buyer

Department: SpecialtyJob Summary:
1. Successfully complete Specialty learning checklists.
2. Perform all duties and responsibilities of Specialty Team Member and Associate Beverage Specialist.
3. Arrive at work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
4. Provide excellent customer service regularly practice and model suggestive selling techniques.
5. Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating and stocking product.
6. Practice courteous and proper etiquette when answering phones and pages.
7. Give timely customer feedback to Team Leader and Associate Team Leader.
8. Comply with all applicable state health and safety codes.
9. Maintain clean and sanitary operating environment.
10. Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
11. Assist in training of new Team Members, utilizing all learning checklists and training materials.
12. Order all wine and beer; maintain appropriate back stock levels.
13. Help to achieve and exceed margin and sales targets.
14. Process invoices and returns.
15. Control spoilage/shrink; achieve turn goals; participate in monthly inventory.
16. Request and ensure proper signage.
17. Execute national, regional, and store programs/promotions.
18. Review weekly, monthly and yearly movement reports; review additional reports as directed.
19. Communicate pertinent product information to the team.
20. Organize weekly wine and beer tastings for customers.
21. Perform other duties as assigned by Associate Team Leader, Team Leader, Store Leadership and Specialty Coordinator(s).
REQUIREMENTS
1. Knowledge, skills, and abilities of Specialty Team Member and Associate Beverage Specialist Buyer.
2. Minimum 6 months specialty/beer/wine experience or equivalent.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of beer/wine production and taste.
4. Ability to sell proactively and communicate effectively with customers.
5. Capable of teaching others in a constructive and positive manner.
6. Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
7. Proficient in math skills; basic computer skills.
8. Strong organization skills.
9. Ability to operate all necessary equipment.
10. Ability to perform physical requirements of position.
11. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as required.Physical working conditions:
1. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
2. In an 8 hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours, sitting 1-4 hours.
3. Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
4. Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
5. Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
6. Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
