Currently, Walgreens seeks experienced Assistant Category Managers within our Purchasing department located at our corporate facility in Deerfield, IL (Chicago-N. Suburbs).

Every product that is sold at a Walgreens store first has to be bought by someone in our vast Purchasing Dept; from ballpoint pens to clock radios to pharmaceuticals. The goal of Purchasing is to drive our sales and profits by satisfying the diverse needs of our customers across America by leveraging proprietary technology to identify and provide the appropriate product assortment on a store-by-store basis.

With several opportunities available, newly hired Assistant Category Managers may be assigned to any of the divisions within our Purchasing department, including: Beauty/Fashion, Consumables/Electronics, Seasonal/Sundry, Health/Wellness/OTC or Photofinishing.


Responsibilities:
Under the direction of Category Manager(s), support activities within our Purchasing Division to include: analysis, item and line selection, vendor relationships/negotiating and understanding categories, consumers, and market trends.

Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Marketing, Finance or Business preferred; also work experience in retail or consumer packaged goods preferred; working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel; strong mathematical skills necessary; must be an independent, detail oriented, organized individual with excellent oral and written communication skills; have ability to interact with all levels within and outside the organization and be an independent self-starter.
