PHARMACIST - LTC

MedChoice Pharmacy provides pharmacy and consulting services to long-term care institutions. We are an organization of dedicated and resourceful professionals with a commitment to provide quality products and services. We are also a JCAHO accredited organization. The Pharmacist will be responsible for the accuracy of filling prescriptions correctly and promptly. Listed below are all the preferred capabilities and primary responsibilities. These vary according to the pharmacist’s full-time or part-time status.

Capabilities:

- Perform accurately and efficiently when dispensing prescription medications

- Proficient in the area of clinical interpretation; drug-drug, drug-disease, drug-food interactions and allergies

- Strong technical proficiency

- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while paying critical attention to detail

- Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies

- Improve and make recommendations to solve problems / issues

- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment

- Capable of meeting deadlines

Primary Responsibilities:

- Execute day-to-day operations in the pharmacy as they pertain to workflow, production quotas and deadlines.

- Screen all new medication orders for appropriate dose, drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications prior to dispensing the medication.

- Check for completeness and accuracy of all new and refill labels and orders generated by data entry clerks. Check for content and accuracy of all drug packaging and labeling (Rx and cautionary) prepared by the pharmacy technicians.

- Preparation and/or supervision of all sterile IV drug products or solutions as per Company operating policy.

- Provide verbal or written consultation and information to healthcare professionals/ customers regarding Company services and drug products.

- Obtain verbal and/or written prescription orders from the physician’s agent as allowed by law. - Obtain clarification of orders, when needed.

- Assist in the proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation and storage of all controlled substances; assist in maintaining a perpetual inventory for schedule II drugs.

- Document pharmacist actions and information as necessary per Company policies and procedures.

- Attend educational programs, orientations and meetings as required by management and licensing requirements.

- Provide evening, weekend and holiday coverage as required per schedule.

- Maintain clinical knowledge and skill level sufficient to render assistance to client facility and Company staff with regard to therapeutic options for better resident care.

- Maintain a professional atmosphere at all times within the pharmacy in order to reflect the seriousness of the nature of the product that is dispensed. Interact with other departments as needed to perform daily routine and maintain the highest degree of customer service.

- Impose a superior standard of quality that is professionally acceptable to the Company and the residents that are served by the Company.

- Inspire pharmacy technician and other professional staff to maintain continuous quality improvement.
