create, implement and maintain departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality and safety assurance programs, environmental and infection control standards
analyze market strengths and weaknesses of program; direct program and develop new programs, marketing strategies and advertising campaigns to promote growth
manage the purchasing, inventory control, storage, distribution and control of pharmaceuticals, IV solutions and supplies
develop, implement and surpass quality assurance goals and cost containment/budgeting requirements
continuously research new drugs or pharmaceutical developments and utilize information as appropriate
educate patients, families and health care staff regarding medication therapy; address questions
prepare various department reports and maintain patient records and files
recruit, orient, train, motivate, discipline and evaluate Pharmacy staff
preserve the classified nature of information
comply with legal and facility regulations
REQUIREMENTS
3-4 years Pharmacy management experience in addition to 5 years experience as a Staff Pharmacist in a hospital setting, Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy (PharmD preferred), current Illinois Pharmacy License and fantastic communication rapport are essential. Ability and willingness to participate in community service and various hospital activities/meetings as well as maintain professional development through in-service training, professional affiliations and seminars are very important.
