Senior Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY
OMF is looking for a Senior Accountant to support the Accounting department’s day-to-day efforts.

Position Responsibilities

Cost Accounting
Assist in the study and evaluation of the Company’s current cost accounting system and implement recommended changes to enhance the quality and timeliness of financial management information; identify and analyze variances between actual, budget, and last year’s production cost and work with management to implement corrective action; prepare seasonal crop profitability reports including cost per acre reports.

Financial Accounting and Reporting
Assist in maintaining the General Ledger including preparation of journal entries and monthly account reconciliations; assist in the preparation of the Company’s quarterly GAAP basis financial statements; assist in the preparation of financial information including key financial indicators, as well as budget, actual, and last year comparisons necessary to facilitate quarterly financial management meetings; assist in the preparation and development of the Company’s annual financial budget; assist in year-end tax planning and tax package preparation for outside Certified Public Accountants; maintain internal book and tax basis fixed assets and related depreciation schedules; perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Requirements
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); ability to work with and manage a high level of detailed information; ability to identify and resolve complex problems; prepare accurate and complete financial statements and analysis from accounting data; maintain a variety of financial records and files; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; advanced computer skills required (Excel, Word, Access).

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; three or more years of progressive experience in accounting or finance; preferably in the agricultural or public accounting environment, Famous experience a plus; CPA or CMA preferred but not required.

Essential Skills and Requirements
Work experience in the above areas of responsibility strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skillsconversational Spanish highly desirablestrong computer skills in Word, Excel and Power Pointgood sense of humor.

Education
Four-year college degree in Human Resources or related field graduate work a plus.
