Security Officer

Orlando Sentinel Communications is seeking candidates for:

Security Officer

Responsible for the protection of employees, visitors, and company assets; perform necessary functions to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
REQUIREMENTS
• One to two years of industrial security experience; basic knowledge of fire management systems, riser systems, access control systems and telephone switchboard operations

• Strong written and verbal communications, customer service, interpersonal and investigative skills; desire to work in a team environment; basic understanding of MS Word and the ability to learn/operate security software and equipment

• Provide effective response to security and emergency related incidents; recognize crisis situations and respond appropriately

• Certified (or ability to become) in CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens and in the operation of an AED unit; ability to sit, stand and/or walk for long periods of time; quickly navigate several floors of stairs; able to lift or drag a person out of dangerous situations; lift and carry fire extinguishers and other safety equipment weighing up to 60 lbs.

• Frequent exposure to heat, cold, and varying weather conditions; occasional exposure to dust, dampness, height, moving machinery, fumes, loud noises, confined spaces, and electrical and chemical issues

• Able to continuously see, view computer monitors, give and receive oral communications, discriminations in sound, and discern color; frequently stand, walk, sit, and type; occasionally drive, bend, squat, and reach above shoulder level

• Valid Florida driver’s license to conduct outside patrols in company vehicle

• High school diploma/GED
